For actress Thandie Newton, hospitals are not a happy place. So when she got pregnant, she elected to give birth at home…three separate times!

The 41-year-old, who just welcomed her third child, Booker, 11 weeks ago, recently explained why she chose to ditch the hospital for the comfort of her own home.

“I had just associated hospital with being ill, and I felt beautiful and healthy and wonderful when I was pregnant, and being at home is the place I felt most relaxed and comfortable,” she shared.

And although son Booker “was born on the bathroom floor,” Thandie doesn’t view the experience as unconventional.

“For me, it feels normal,” said the Good Deeds star, who used the same midwife to deliver all three of her children. “There was a time when everybody had their babies at home and it wasn’t such a big deal.”

Thandie shared that while her two daughters — Ripley and Nico — love having a new baby in the house, her newborn may be a bit confused by all the female attention!

“I think he thinks he’s got three mummies,” she laughed. “He’s got a 13-year-old, a 9-year-old and a (cough cough) 27-year-old.”

The brunette beauty is currently balancing mommy duty and her career as she gears up for the season 2 premiere of her police drama, Rogue.

“We have five protagonists that are women, and for a mainstream show, that’s really unusual,” Thandie told Today Show anchors of the DirecTV series.

“I’m very proud of that. And it’s not something that has been forced. I think people love seeing empowered women on screen, and in life,” she added.
